Judge Charlotte Welsh called it as a “extremely serious offence” that “clearly passes the custody threshold”.

However, the judge directed the probation agency to compile a pre-sentence report, which will determine if the sentence can be suspended.

Judge Welsh also requested that the Crown conduct more investigations into the victim’s financial losses.

Huxted was granted unconditional bail until he is sentenced in May.
