Exclusive: Charlton Athletic agree to sign Rob Apter in £2m+ deal.
Charlton Athletic have agreed to sign Blackpool midfielder Rob Apter for more than £2 million, according to Football Insider sources.
The London club is finalising a deal for the 22-year-old after having their bid accepted. The agreement comes after Charlton’s initial offers were rejected by Blackpool.
Apter had an impressive season with Blackpool last year, scoring eight goals and assisting eight times in 50 appearances across all competitions.
Charlton secure deal for Blackpool star
Last week (10 July), Football Insider exclusively revealed that Charlton were considering a move for Apter, but Steve Bruce preferred to keep the 22-year-old at Bloomfield Road.
However, it now appears that Bruce will lose one of his key players just two weeks before the start of the new season.
Apter joined the Blackpool academy at the age of 15, and had successful loan spells at Scunthorpe United and Tranmere Rovers before breaking into the senior team.
Charlton are continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Championship season, and the Scotland Under-21 international will add to the mix.
Nathan Jones has already completed a raid on his former club Luton Town, signing Thomas Kaminski, Amari’i Bell, and Reece Burke earlier in the window.
The Addicks will be desperate to avoid immediate relegation back to the third tier.

Huddersfield set to sign ex-Stoke man
Meanwhile, Lynden Gooch is having a medical at Huddersfield Town after leaving Stoke City in the summer, according to Football Insider sources.
The USA international has four caps for his country and visited the Terriers’ training ground on July 10 to discuss a move to the League One club.
The 29-year-old left Stoke after two seasons at the bet365 Stadium and is now a free agent, having made 53 appearances and scoring twice.
Gooch is an excellent addition to Grant’s squad, as the American can play as a left winger or a left wingback.
