EXCLUSIVE: Dundee FC bolster new stadium planning team as decision wait goes on.
The club is presently awaiting a decision on the planning in principle application it submitted to Dundee City Council last year.
As the wait for a council decision on the new Camperdown stadium application continues, Dundee FC has expanded the team in charge of it.
The club is presently awaiting a decision on the planning in principle application it submitted to Dundee City Council last year.
They are seeking permission to build a 12,500 seater stadium on the outskirts of the city, with the development also including proposals for a crematorium, hotel and residential development.
The project was created by Dundee owners Tim Keyes and John Nelms, who established Dark Blue Property Holdings (DBPH) for the development.
However, the planning process has been plagued by a series of hiccups, and in August, Nelms lashed out at what he described as “inexplicable procedural anomalies” impeding the application.
High profile projects
About Planning, based in Broughty Ferry, is managing the application on DBPH’s behalf.
However, Montagu Evans, a property consultancy business, has been draughted in to assist with the ongoing application process.
The company has offices in Edinburgh, London, and Manchester, and describes itself as a “key player in the UK property and real estate industry”.
They’ve worked on a number of high-profile projects in the UK, including the £1.9 billion reconstruction of Birmingham’s Smithfield Market.
The historic property will be transformed with the construction of almost 3,000 new dwellings, workplaces, shops, and cultural spaces.
Montagu Evans also assisted Edinburgh Council in selling the Atria office development for £105 million.
Stadium decision wait goes on
Dundee City Council’s planning committee will make the decision on the planning in principle proposal.
However, one of the obstacles impeding its progress is the proposed Kingsway junction into the complex, with Traffic Scotland repeatedly expressing concerns over its design.
Police Scotland has also expressed concerns about the traffic management strategy filed along with the proposal.
Police have expressed concerns that the idea “poses as many questions as it answers” and potentially jeopardise traffic safety, according to The Courier earlier this month.
The next meeting of the planning committee of the Dundee City Council is set for Monday, November 3.
However, The Courier is aware that the development of the Camperdown stadium is not on the plan. The committee’s final meeting before the year ends is scheduled on Monday, December 8.
A decision won’t be made until 2026 if the Dee’s new stadium isn’t on the agenda for this meeting.
