Exclusive: New five-storey dental practice offering ‘all possible treatments’ to open in heart of Inverness.
Dr Archie MacLellan told The Post and Journal about his big aspirations after purchasing the former Barclays Bank facility on Union Street.
A new dentist clinic will open in Inverness, offering “all possible dental treatments”.
Dr. Archie MacLellan, proprietor of Union Street Dental Care, is expanding his current location significantly.
Dr. MacLellan purchased his practice, which is located on the first floor of the former Barclays Bank building, about a year ago.
The Press & Journal previously reported that he bought the entire five-story building in October 2025.
With business partner Dr Diana Inkster, he plans to build a “flagship dental practice for the north of Scotland”.
The P&J spoke with Dr. MacLellan about his ambitious goals, including:
- He offers “high-end” dental procedures and aims to expand to advanced treatments like facelifts and hair transplants.
The number of patients they can register and whether they will accept NHS patients.
The estimated opening date.
New Inverness dental practice will be ‘flagship for the Highlands’
Since graduating from Glasgow University, Dr. MacLellan of Fort Augustus and Dr. Inkster of Shetland have dreamed of establishing a “one-stop facility” for all high-end dentistry services in the Highlands.
Dr. MacLellan told The P&J: “There is nowhere in the Highlands where you can get all of your dental treatments done.
“We want to provide a one-stop location or a flagship for the Highlands, that is the objective, to be the place to go to when it comes to achieving optimal dental care.”
Dr. MacLellan stated that once the expansion is completed, the immediate objective is to provide “high-end dentistry with an emphasis on implants, Invisalign, and smile makeovers.”
They will also offer facial aesthetic treatments like anti-wrinkle injections, masseter Botox, Lumi Eyes, and fillers.
The 37-year-old stated that he has already spent almost £300,000 on cutting-edge dental equipment, including two new dental chairs, a CBCT scanner, and an iTero Lumina intraoral scanner, which he calls “the most advanced in the world.”

The young dentist stated that, while they now have a capacity of around 5,000 patients, this will expand once future clinicians join the team.
Although the practice does not accept adult NHS patients, Dr MacLellan stated that they will accept NHS patients under the age of 18 who are children of dental plan members.
Ambitious plans to offer aesthetic surgery such as hair transplants or facelifts
Dr. MacLellan told The Post and Journal that there will be six dental surgeries, three more than there are now, distributed throughout the ground and first floors.
However, he has a “long-term plan” for the top three floors of what he calls a “huge” edifice.
He stated, “We have a long-term goal of bringing a maxillofacial surgeon on board for aesthetic surgery.
“We have friends and colleagues who provide advanced treatments like facelifts, hair transplants, and minor surgeries.”In the future, we plan to include these options.
When will new Inverness dental practice open?
Dr MacLellan stated that there is still no set launch date for the extended practice.
However, he hopes it will open before next year.
