Fashion brand founded by ex Tayside footballers vows to reopen Dundee store after liquidation.
Bee Inspired operates a shop at Dundee’s Overgate Centre.
A garment label founded by two former Tayside players has vowed to restore its Dundee store after the company went bankrupt.
Bee Inspired appointed a temporary liquidator earlier this month, and its Overgate Centre location has closed in recent weeks. Steven Robb and Mark Corcoran, Perth-born footballers, created the streetwear company in 2013.
Robb, 43, played for Dundee from 2001 to 2006 before spending two years with the Dark Blues’ city rivals, Dundee United.
Attacker Corcoran, 44, had a career that began at Tayport and included stints at St Mirren, Partick Thistle and Ross County.
The firm has revealed former Scottish rugby league player Gareth Moore has taken over its assets.
Bee Inspired Clothing goes into liquidation
Bee Inspired said in a statement on Monday that it has “grown from a Scottish start-up into an internationally recognised clothing brand”.
It went on to say, “We are grateful to both founders for their leadership and important contributions to the brand’s success.
“Bee Inspired Clothing Ltd went into liquidation in the first week of November, and on November 11, the courts appointed FRP insolvency practitioners to liquidate the company.” “FRP then moved quickly to investigate potential opportunities to sell the assets of the liquidated business.
“On November 12, they engaged in discussions with two interested parties regarding the purchase of the assets, stock, IP and goodwill, with the aim of preserving the Glasgow-born brand.”
Clothing brand aiming to reopen Dundee store
Bee Inspired has disclosed that it is in talks about resuming its retail operations after its website reopened over the weekend.
It also has three Glasgow locations and one in Leeds, having established a store on the first floor of the Overgate in April 2024.
Several celebrities have supported the company, including World Cup winner Lionel Messi and Scottish actor Martin Compston.
The statement continued: “On November 14, businessman Gareth Moore, a former professional rugby league player and Scotland international, purchased the assets of Bee Inspired Clothing Ltd.
“Gareth steps into this role with a clear vision for the brand’s next chapter.” “We have listened to your criticism, and a fresh emphasis on the brand’s original character is already beginning, with more exciting initiatives to be announced soon.
“Negotiations are already underway to reopen Bee Inspired’s retail store locations as soon as possible.” “This transition represents an important step forward for the brand, supporting continuity while opening new opportunities for growth and expansion.”
