FIFA have confirmed change that will affect Coventry City

FIFA have confirmed change that will affect Coventry City.

Coventry City are in the midst of their first international break of the season.

This will be the final September international break in its current form, with FIFA implementing new procedures next year.

Coventry City and their Championship rivals have halted for two weeks to allow their players to go and play for their respective countries.

The September international window arrives too quickly for some, and additional international breaks in October and November disrupt the domestic season.

FIFA has changed the plan for the future, resulting in only three international windows per season following the World Cup next year.

The governing body has agreed to merge the September and October international windows to create a single extended time in which international football takes precedence over club football.

This will be the final time players sign up with their countries at the start of September, as new measures will go into effect next year.
