First look at Dundee Bell Street car park after £14 million revamp

First look at Dundee Bell Street car park after £14 million revamp.

The new-look green travel hub, which has been closed since spring 2024, will return with a £3 parking bargain.

Dundee’s Bell Street car park is due to reopen following a £14 million renovation.

The multi-story car park has been closed since March 2024. It has been redeveloped into a green travel hub with funds provided by Dundee City Council from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The hub has undergone changes that include the inclusion of around 350 electric vehicle charging points, car sharing spaces, and an e-bike hire service.

The parking lot reopens next Monday (December 8).

Bell Street car park reopens with £3 parking deal

To mark the reopening of the car park, drivers in Dundee are being offered a deal to park all day for £3.

This offer will be in place until early January.

The vehicle entrance to the car park is now via the slip road on the westbound North Marketgait.

When the underpass off Dudhope Crescent Road, on the opposite side of the ring road, reopens next spring, it will only be accessible to walkers and cyclists.

Council Leader Mark Flynn stated, “I am happy to see the first phase of the Bell Street Hub accessible to the public.

“While the facility will focus on Dundee’s future green transit, it will also serve as a car park for commuters and shoppers in the city centre.

“This all-day deal allows guests to unwind and spend more time in the city centre.

“We are keen to encourage drivers of all types of car to use the hub, and this discounted offer is intended to get people back into the habit of using Bell Street after its closure for the works.”
