Flooding report lodged in plans for Sweet Briar Road Lidl.

Bosses at a supermarket conglomerate have released additional reports to allay flooding fears raised about their intentions to develop a food shop in the city.

Eskmuir Securities Ltd, which has outlined plans for a Lidl at Sweet Briar Retail Park, has submitted a flood risk study to Norwich City Council.

According to firm representatives, the analysis gives additional information to ensure “the proposed development is safe from flooding to an appropriate degree as specified in current planning policy.”

Senior architects for Norwich City Council have notified the applicant, Eskmuir Securities Limited, that they do not believe there is sufficient information to approve the designs.

Engineers from Norfolk County Council’s roads departments have also expressed concerns about “several issues with the design that require amendments”.

Four years ago, Norwich City Council granted outline planning permission for the additional retail space at the site.

The application calls for a single-story supermarket building, 160 parking spots, a roundabout on the site, and a new junction with Sweet Briar Road.
