Footbridge over Dundee’s Kingsway shut for safety reasons.
The Pitkerro Road footbridge has been closed. A footbridge crossing the Dundee Kingsway near a busy roundabout has been closed due to safety concerns.
The Pitkerro Road footbridge has been closed, with a temporary pedestrian crossing installed near the Craigie Bar.
Separate overnight restrictions for resurfacing work are in place on the A972 at the Strathmartine Road Roundabout and the Old Glamis Road Roundabout.
Bridge on Dundee’s Kingsway closed ‘until further notice’
Amey, the road contractor, stated that the footbridge was “temporarily” closed to “ensure the safety of pedestrians and road users”.
In an earlier update, it stated that it was “closed until further notice”.
It comes after two additional footbridges straddling the Kingsway, at Strathmartine Road and Old Glamis Road, were removed and renovated during the summer.
Both bridges were almost 40 years old and needed significant repairs due to corrosion.
