Former Torry school ravaged by fire and vandalism heading to auction.
The location of Victoria Road School was formerly considered for new apartments, however it has subsequently been vandalised and fallen into ruin since it closed to students in 2008.
An abandoned primary school in Aberdeen that was destroyed by fire and vandalism is going under the hammer.
Following its final closure in 2008, Torry’s Victoria Road School has remained deserted ever since.
However, it has recently been the victim of vandalism, and a fire left the structure in such bad shape that potential owners could have to have it demolished.
After plans to convert the land into affordable housing failed, the former school was advertised at Future Property Auctions, with opening bids starting at £230,000.
Six years ago, the former school was taken up by the Torry Development Trust and the Grampian Housing Association. However, the council cut funds for a nursery, a communal space, and 55 affordable apartments.
Plans were dropped in 2024, and the abandoned and damaged building will now be put up for auction. The nearly two-acre property will be up for bid on Thursday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the listing on Future Property Auctions, “The site has a regular shape, but it does slope downward from south to north.” According to calculations, the site covers 0.80 hectares (1.97 acres), or more.
It is acknowledged that 50 apartments (of various sizes) spread across 4 buildings, along with a children’s nursery, a community area, a parking lot, and landscape grounds, have planning authorisation.
“The structures have a number of pitched and slated roofs and are mostly made of granite walls. The property has not undergone an inside examination due to health and safety concerns.
The property was discovered to be dilapidated, vandalised, and fire damaged, and it was in extremely poor repair condition. As a result, the buildings must be removed or, if they are kept, extensively renovated.
