Four firms ‘exploring interest’ at Coventry and Warwick gigapark, papers reveal.

Greenpower Park is expected to become the UK’s Centre for Electrification and Clean Energy.

Four companies are ‘exploring interest’ in Coventry and Warwick’s planned gigapark. That is according to the most recent city council materials.

Greenpower Park is a joint initiative of Coventry City Council and Coventry Airport. The West Midlands Combined Authority had agreed to provide a £23 million financial package.

The funds were used to launch what is characterised as a significant Investment Zone development site. It was hoped that the announcement of the financing would attract foreign investment, notably from battery manufacturers and other electric vehicle and energy storage industries.

According to an update report to the council’s Business Economy and Enterprise Scrutiny Board, the site’s promotion and investor engagement efforts are generating interest, with four battery manufacturing companies exploring potential opportunities.

“Two of which have visited the site specifically in 2026, with further company visit anticipated in April / May this year.”We are working on a longlist of over 80 locations where a Greenpower Park / Investment Zone location may be of interest.

“These opportunities range from the major battery manufacturers already mentioned,5through to battery supply chain, testing / R&D, recycling and other vehicle /advanced manufacturing businesses.”

Today (Wednesday, March 25), members of the scrutiny panel will gather to consider the report.
