Frank Lampard refuses to be drawn as Jack Rudoni ‘owns’ Coventry City success story

Coventry City news from CoventryLive as Frank Lampard discusses star man’s progress with the Sky Blues.

Frank Lampard thinks star midfielder Jack Rudoni is “owning” his “success story” at Coventry City, but refused to comment on the player’s contract issue.

The Sky Blues manager believes the player has gone from strength to strength since initially taking command at the CBS Arena last November, and was thrilled that the club was able to keep him in the summer, barely 12 months into his four-year contract at the CBS Arena.

However, owner Doug King stood fast, and City retained their prized asset, who was reported last week to be “close” to agreeing on a new and improved deal to further secure his services.

When asked if the talkSPORT allegation was true, Lampard neither confirmed nor denied it, saying: “I’m not going to answer about contracts of players.”

He did, however, underline the importance of keeping the player this summer and appreciated his contribution to both the squad and the club.

“Yeah and I have said it before, you have to keep your best players if you want to succeed and they have to grow with you as the team grows,” according to him.

“Or you must have viable succession plans. Anc, at this moment with us, that’s not precisely where we are, so you want to keep all of your finest players, including Jack. So that is one thing.

He went on to say, “In terms of his personal development, I’ve seen him evolve since we first walked in.

And I liked him the moment I walked in. I thought he was quite talented. “It was about determining the ideal place for him to play, working on the practice pitch, and working on his mentality.

He has a wonderful mentality, is a really positive youngster who wants to grow, but needs to hone it and figure out where it can enhance his game. “And when things like that happen, the player owns them and takes them on, which he has done so far.

He’s a hungry lad and a very good player for us, and he needs to sustain his form, keep creating, and continue to be a nuisance for the opposition, as well as the goal threat that he is.”
