Getting To Know Ed Jackson-Norris, Reading Women’s New Manager.
Ed Jackson-Norris was recently named the Royals’ manager, working alongside new assistant Max Scott.
Following the surprise departures of Pedro Bruno and Shelley Strange, any concerns about Reading Women’s future were quickly alleviated when, just over a week later, Ed Jackson-Norris was announced as the new first-team manager, having previously spent three successful seasons with Maidenhead United Women’s first team.
Before he even met the players – the first training session was scheduled for that evening (in the 30 degree heat! ), Jackson-Norris graciously agreed to meet with TTE to discuss his excitement to take on the role, his time at Maidenhead, the challenges that tier-five football brings, as well as his goals, objectives, and the upcoming season in general.
If you’ve read any of the official press releases so far (the media aspect is already moving in the right direction), you’ll notice he’s clearly excited to be here, “buzzing to be part of the football club again” (he previously worked for the Community Trust) and to be at “such a massive club with a rich history in the game”. We met in a local coffee shop (Bubble Frappé for the new boss) and, as if to highlight the excitement surrounding the announcement, we were beaten to our opening ‘congratulations on the new role’ by a couple of passing friends who stopped to wish Jackson-Norris the best of luck for the season ahead!
“Thank you, it’s really exciting,” beamed Reading Women’s proud new manager.
A time of change for Reading Women
Although the Women’s team (and pathway) remains under the Community Trust’s stewardship and financial control (which isn’t a bad thing), there’s already a palpable positive vibe around the place, as Jackson-Norris recalls, following Reading Football Club’s overall ownership change.
