Gracia praises Watford’s ‘great attitude’ after Derby win.
A pleased Javi Gracia praised his players’ “great attitude” after Watford rallied from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and break Derby County’s five-match winning streak.
The Rams appeared to be on their way to a sixth consecutive victory when Dion Sanderson and Sondre Langas put them ahead, but Luca Kjerrumgaard’s goal and Edo Kayembe’s double gave the visitors their first away three points since mid-February.

“It was a tough game today and to win after a long time without winning away – around 270 days, something like that – of course we are really happy to get this win,” stated the head coach of the Hornets!
“After conceding two goals, we were able to keep doing our job and following the strategy, and the three points were a fantastic reward for us.
“I’m really happy for my players because they showed a great attitude until the end, and also very happy for our supporters who I think enjoyed it with the team.” Gracia believed his team did not deserve to be losing 2-0 on the balance of the game.
“If you analyse the goals today one of them is coming from a rebound, the second one coming from a very good free-kick, a good header,” stated the player.
“In my perspective, we didn’t deserve to lose the game 2-0. The game was even; we had more possession and more shots on goal.
“I think we played a good game knowing the opponent is coming from five wins in a row and it would be very tough for us, but I think our players showed a good attitude.”
The victory was also secured after the Hornets lost Kwadwo Baah in the first half with what appeared to be a severe hamstring injury.
However, the winger did participate in the post-game festivities with his teammates, implying that the injury may not be as serious as first thought.
“In this moment I can’t tell you more information, only he’s injured and we’ll see tomorrow,” she stated. “But I think he doesn’t feel so bad he decided to go out, but it’s better to protect him at this moment.”
