Hathersage Road crash: Pictures and video show dramatic scene after crash closes major Sheffield road today.
This was the scene on Hathersage Road in Sheffield this morning, after emergency services closed the road following a crash.
Police closed the road near the intersection with Brickhouse Lane, near the famed Dore Moor Garden Centre, following an accident involving two cars late this morning.
The South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service announced that the road would be blocked at 10 a.m. today and urged people to avoid the area.
Fire teams were first dispatched to the location, as well as officers from South Yorkshire Police The road was closed in both ways, and a car appeared to have been severely damaged and ended up in a ditch.
A second vehicle could be spotted on the back of a truck. Following the event, highway workers wearing orange high-visibility clothes worked to clean the road.
Despite the obvious damage to the car, it is thought that no one was seriously harmed in the incident.
Emergency services have been contacted for further information about the event.
