‘He’s a brilliant boy’: McInnes hails Hearts match-winner Findlay.

The defender scored twice in a 3-2 victory over Dundee United.

Hearts manager Derek McInnes heaped praise on Stuart Findlay after the defender’s decisive double, including a stoppage-time winner, secured a 3-2 win over Dundee United.

The Edinburgh club took the lead at Tannadice thanks to a Lawrence Shankland penalty, but were pegged back by two goals from Ivan Dolcek. However, Findlay equalised and then scored a dramatic last-gasp winner.

The towering defender has already scored four goals this season, which manager McInnes admits is a far cry from He was playing under him on loan at Kilmarnock.

McInnes stated, “I couldn’t get him to score a goal against Kilmarnock, but I can’t stop him now!

Stuart is a brilliant human and a brilliant boy. “First and foremost, he must do his job well defensively, as they all do at the back, and I believe he does so week in and week out.

“It’s actually nice to see him get a little bit of a chance to shine and get some applause from that side of things. “You can see the fans are desperate for heroes.

Goodwin, on the other hand, is confident that his players will recover in time for the second leg against Rapid at home on Thursday. He added, “I believe we can. Tannadice will be rocking. I believe it will be a full house.

“The adrenaline, I think, will do enough to get them through the 90 minutes and hopefully do enough to get us into that play-off position.” Goodwin is in the final ten months of his contract with United, but the Irishman insists he is close to extending it.

He went on to say, “I’m in the final year of my contract, and I’m currently speaking with the chairman and CEO.” Hopefully, we can resolve this quickly in the coming days.”
