Hibs favourite returns to Premiership rival as Dundee United welcome ex-star back in key project.

The former Hibs and Celtic footballer has returned to one of his previous teams as a coach.

A Hibs icon has returned to a Premiership rival to train some of their young players. Scott Allan has moved on to become a commentator and coach at League Two club East Kilbride after retiring.

He’s a fan favourite at Hibs, having made 127 appearances in Leith throughout numerous periods, the most of any club. Allan also played for Celtic and Dundee United, where he has returned as part of the Baldragon Academy project.

Allan will take on the job of individual development coach. Some of the players who have progressed to senior football as a result of United’s affiliation with the city’s school include Owen Stirton and Sam Cleall-Harding.

The former Hibs star will take on one-on-one sessions, combining this commitment with his media obligations and work at East Kilbride, according to the Courier

Why did Scott Allan retire from football?

Allan stated in the summer of his retirement from football, “As I step away from playing the game I love, I want to take a moment to reflect on my journey.”

My desire since I was a child has been to play in front of a full stadium while wearing my name on the back of my shirt. “Nothing beats the emotion, the adrenaline rush, and the connection with the supporters.

I am extremely grateful to my family. Your constant support has served as an anchor for me during my diabetes journey.

“You took me to training week after week, nurturing my enthusiasm and tenacity on and off the pitch.

Thank you to my teammates, coaches, and fans for making my goal come true. This is more than just the conclusion of a chapter filled with fond memories.

I’m delighted to start new adventures in media and coaching! This next chapter will allow me to share my experiences, motivate others, and maintain my enthusiasm for the game. “Thank you.”

Who is Scott Allan?

Allan, a technically gifted player, began his career at Dundee United before joining West Bromwich Albion.

After a series of loan spells in England, he returned to Scotland with Hibs in 2014, and his impressive season convinced Celtic that he was a worthwhile purchase.

Speaking of Hibs’ 25/26 Premiership hopes earlier this season, Allan told the BBC: “Hibs and Hearts are in for third place, but I think both might have other ideas.

It just relies on who can stay the course over the course of a season, and the same goes for Rangers and Celtic, both of whom are currently under a lot of pressure from outside. So, if there’s ever a chance to maybe go and have a run at it, this would be the year.”
