Hibs talent takes ‘great opportunity’ in loan transfer exit as David Gray endorses development move.

Hibs has announced a loan transfer exit with a focus on development. Hibs have announced midfielder Jacob MacIntyre’s loan move to Championship club Arbroath.

The League One champions have agreed to a six-month deal with the Easter Road youngster, who gained League One experience on loan with Kelty Hearts last season.

was a member of Gray’s senior team in preseason, but with the transfer window being closed in Leith, the teenager is being sent back out to boost his development.

He has been with Hibs since the age of nine, making his debut in 2024. Along with a loan to Arbroath, who were promoted to the second tier last season, the midfielder will remain in and near Hibs training.

Grey stated, “This is an excellent opportunity for Jacob to gain more experience playing senior football at a very competitive level while also continuing to train with the first team squad here.”

Jacob impressed me in preseason, and he has greatly benefited from training with the first team squad.

“I am pleased that we will be able to closely monitor his progress while on loan. He had a fantastic season with Kelty last year, and I am confident he can excel again in the Scottish Championship with Arbroath. We wish him the best of luck with the relocation.”

A Hibernian announcement reads: “Hibernian midfielder Jacob MacIntyre has joined Arbroath on loan until January 1, 2026. The 19-year-old midfielder has joined the Red Lichties, who are presently third in the Scottish Championship league.

Jacob has been a member of the Hibernian FC Academy since the age of nine, going through the age categories before making his senior first-team debut in March 2024.

Why Arbroath have signed Hibs talent

“Jacob had a terrific season in Scottish League One last year, playing 27 games for Kelty Hearts, scoring three goals and helping Kelty finish sixth.

During the summer, the bright youngster trained with Hibs’ first team squad and played in many friendlies, and he will now continue his development at Arbroath in the Scottish Championship.

MacIntyre will play and train with Arbroath while also continuing to train with Hibs’ First Team at HTC during the week.

Colin Hamilton and David Gold, Arbroath’s co-managers, said: “We are ecstatic to complete this transaction.

Jacob is a great young talent, and we saw firsthand last season how dangerous he can be.

When we heard he was available, we leaped at the chance to bring him on board and are excited to work with him this year to improve our team and Jacob’s development.”

According to an Arbroath FC statement, the club is pleased to announce the short-term signing of Hibernian midfielder Jacob MacIntyre.

MacIntyre spent the season on loan with Kelty Hearts, making 27 appearances and scoring three goals, including twice in our 3-2 defeat at New Central Park in December.

We’d like to thank Hibernian for their help in executing this transaction. Jacob will wear the number 15. “Welcome to Gayfield, Jacob.”
