Hilgers transfer off the table: defender will remain at Twente

Hilgers transfer off the table: defender will remain at Twente.

Mees Hilgers will continue to play for FC Twente for at least another six months. Technical director Jan Streuer stated to TC Tubantia that the 24-year-old defender will not be leaving the club.

Hilgers definitely wanted to move away from Enschede this summer, and a transfer to Stade Brest fell through. RTV Oost reported that his arrival was briefly explored at Go Ahead Eagles. Streuer affirms that the right-footed defender will eventually continue with FC Twente.

It is still unknown whether Hilgers will extend his contract with the Tukkers. He has not been selected in the squad this season due to the previously mentioned transfer concerns. He may return to the squad for Saturday’s home game against NAC Breda. Another Israeli defender, Stav Lemkin, had an injury during the international break.
