Home Cafe on Thorpe Road gets one-star hygiene rating.
After receiving a one-star sanitary rating, the proprietor of a cafe hopes that a re-inspection will yield better results.
On August 20, the inspector determined that Home Cafe on Thorpe Road’s food safety management, which includes tests to ensure food is safe to consume and proof personnel know about food safety, required significant improvement.
But the cafe’s owner, Spiros Priftis, who was on vacation at the time of the inspection, says he has since resolved the issues with the inspector and is awaiting a re-inspection.
Spiros and his partner Christina launched the cafe in 2023. He explained, “I returned on 23 August and arranged everything for the inspector, who returned four days later to check again.
“He was definitely pleased with all of the issues, and I’ve paid for a re-rating to take place very soon.
“As a new business owner, I am definitely learning every day but I assure everyone that we do the best for the health and safety of our customers.”
Spiros started the cafe with his partner, Christina Papadoulou, in 2023, after relocating to Hellesdon in 2018.
