How do Dundee create more chances for ‘sharper’ Simon Murray?

The Dens skipper has had a disrupted start to the season.

Dundee must find a method to provide service to Simon Murray.

That is the idea for boss Steven Pressley as he looks for a method to put points on the board.

The Dark Blues have lost their previous two games, bringing their total to four defeats in five, and will meet Rangers at Dens Park on Sunday.

Murray, the club’s captain, has only scored once in the league this season due to injury and illness. He’s been playing in recent weeks despite his lack of full fitness.

He appeared to be getting back on track against Hearts the last time out, playing more than 80 minutes at Tynecastle.

‘Better decisions’

His manager hopes to see more of the same on Sunday. “Simon looked sharper last Saturday,” Dundee head coach Pressley stated.

For the first time in a long time, he spent two weeks on the training ground consecutively. “That showed, but it will take some time for him.

“We need to find more opportunities for him. “Part of that is that we need to make better decisions in the last third.

There is no dispute about that. “And I believe Simon simply needs to rediscover his rhythm.

“He’s clearly not firing on all cylinders since he missed so much training. “He hadn’t trained much before the Celtic game.

“But I believe that was the first time he’d had two consistent weeks prior to the Hearts game.” “So he was in a much better place going into that.”
