Huddersfield Town confirm appointments to Liam Manning’s backroom team.
HUDDERSFIELD Town have confirmed Liam Manning’s long-term contract, as well as the first recruits to his backroom team.
The 40-year-old led his first training session today and will make his debut in the dugout against Bradford City in the West Yorkshire Derby on Saturday.
Martin Drury has joined as an assistant coach, and James Krause has been appointed as first-team coach-analyst. Chris Elliott, the head of goalkeeping, remains in position.
Manning joins following a brief stint at hometown club Norwich City, having previously had success in the EFL with MK Dons, Oxford United and Bristol City.
Town sporting director Chris Markham said, “Liam’s appetite and enthusiasm to take on this opportunity has been clearly obvious since our very first chat, and we’re happy to welcome him to the club at such a critical juncture in our season, with so much yet to play for.
“This recruitment process wasn’t just about finding a good coach, it was as much identifying the right person for Huddersfield Town to fulfil our ambitions both this season and beyond.”
Liam is an impressive person and professional, with a progressive and pragmatic approach to coaching that shares many of the ideals and characteristics that the club, and most importantly our supporters, value the most.

Manning added: “Being selected head coach of Huddersfield Town is an honour, and the enormity of this chance is too large to pass up.I am honoured to be given such a distinguished responsibility, and I am committed to making a positive impact.
In each discussion with Chris Markham and the club hierarchy, we shared not just our overall hopes, desires, and aspirations, but also how we intended to achieve them.
“Backed by a passionate and invested owner and chairman, there is an excitement and hunger that must be restored in everything that we do, and that work starts now.”
Huddersfield-born Drury has previous experience in West Yorkshire, having coached Bradford (Park Avenue) in the Vanarama National League before joining Bradford City.
He moved on to work in Manchester United’s academy before joining West Bromwich Albion in August 2024 as a member of former Town manager Carlos Corberán’s coaching staff.
He later collaborated with Corberán at Valencia and has since worked at top-tier club Brentford.
Krause has worked closely with Manning at Oxford United, Bristol City, and Norwich City, having previously spent eight years at Premier League club Arsenal, where he oversaw the first team football analytic department.
