Introduction – Chronicle’s new Reading FC Sports Reporter.
“I’m absolutely honoured to be reporting on such a historic and exciting club,” writes Ramy Abou-Setta, the new Reading FC Sports Reporter.
I’ve been a football fan for as long as I can remember, and I’d go to any game, regardless of division.
Analysing strategies, being captivated by a naturally gifted player, or experiencing effective tactical periods of play. Being born near Stamford Bridge meant that I didn’t get to choose the club I would follow for the rest of my life – Chelsea FC.
James Earnshaw has been a dedicated, enthusiastic, and meticulous reporter during Reading FC’s most challenging years.
He listened to the fans, held authority accountable, and continued to write detailed reports when the Royals faced uncertainty. He has left large shoes to fill, and I want to fill them as I continue to tell the club’s story.
This is an exciting time; despite the club’s struggles and tribulations, we now have a new manager, new owners, new alliances, and a desire to restore glory to the RG2 – I am delighted to report on this new period in Reading FC history.
Though my blood runs blue and I was sometimes dubbed a ‘Glory chaser’ during Mourinho’s management tenure, my greatest passion and affection has always been the beautiful game.
So, to be able to use my journalistic abilities, which I’ve polished over the previous few years, most recently in Brighton with The Argus, to report on such a historic and dynamic club is an amazing privilege.
