KFC given green light to become one of latest opening takeaways in Sheffield on West Street.

KFC has been given the green light to operate one of Sheffield’s newest takeaways.
Sheffield Council has granted planning approval for the company’s West Street location to open until 4 a.m. in the future.

However, they have stated that they must keep the noise to a minimum and will not be permitted to play music or use loud speakers. They must also soundproof the shop to avoid disturbing anyone living in the flats above it.

They won’t be able to make any deliveries after 11 p.m.

After granting planning permission for the extension until 4 a.m., a council report indicated that opening until 4 a.m. would not be appropriate for all venues on West Street, and the impact on residents was paramount.

However, they stated that the KFC shop featured a larger indoor seating area, allowing customers to ‘eat in’ rather than being driven out of the building to congregate on the street, as is the case with other smaller takeaway units, which they believed would most likely bother the neighbours.

They further explained: “The use of noise mitigation measures can be used to control the sound intrusion internally.”
