The most recent information from Elland Road as Leeds United gets ready to play Premier League rivals Fulham on Saturday.
During the summer transfer window, a number of Leeds United’s promotion winners had their tenure at Elland Road end.
MLS clubs are reportedly interested in Patrick Bamford after his contract was amicably terminated earlier this month and Junior Firpo rejoined his old team Real Betis following the expiration of his own contract. Joe Gelhardt, Mateo Joseph, and Largie Ramazani have all agreed to loan deals away from the club, and Josuha Guilovogui is still searching for a new club after his departure was finalized.
Whites mainstay Illan Meslier now seems to be considered Daniel Farke’s third choice goalkeeper, which seems to have marked the end of a two-time promotion winner’s tenure at Elland Road with the arrival of Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri. During the last few months of the previous season, the former France Under-21 player lost his spot in the Whites squad when Karl Darlow, a Wales international, was assigned to assist Leeds in their final push for the Championship title and subsequent promotion to the Premier League.
Perri, a Brazilian goalie, has played every minute of the Whites’ three Premier League games in the first two weeks of the season. He has also kept clean sheets in the team’s home games against Newcastle United and Everton. Darlow received his first start of the season, although he was benched for the Carabao Cup defeat to Championship team Sheffield Wednesday.
That occurred amid rumors that Meslier would be scheduled to return to France before the transfer deadline, but the French player stayed at Elland Road and his future is still up in the air. Stuart Dallas, Meslier’s former Whites teammate, has commended the veteran goalie’s mindset and stated that he will keep up his hard work to regain Farke’s favor.
Regarding Illan Meslier’s future at Leeds United, what did Stuart Dallas say?
“I’m not sure if he’s forgotten,” Dallas stated in response to the ComAve TikTik account. I’m not sure if this is his last moment. I believe Perri has been signed as their goalie. Karl Darlow is undoubtedly another outstanding goalie for them, so I’m not sure if Illan’s career is over. He’s still with the club, then. He will keep working.
“Unusual occurrences have occurred where players are battling to rejoin the team. Illan is a decent boy. You know, he’s had an amazing career at Leeds. At such a young age, he has played a lot of games, and I hope the best for him. He’s had a great career, but I’m not sure what his plans are if he decides to move on at some point. And this is useful to him. He’s been on a great run since arriving in Leeds, so it’s gone fast for him, and he can use this setback to motivate himself moving ahead.
