Leicester Evington murder investigation updates as police searches continue.

The investigation in Broad Avenue has entered its eleventh day, with white tents erected up in a yard.

Police began their searches in Evington today (Friday, February 20) as part of the ongoing murder investigation into missing man Gary Piatek.

White tents were erected in the back garden of a property on Broad Avenue in Evington on Wednesday (February 18th).

Police are looking into the disappearance of 60-year-old Mr Piatek, who has not been seen since April 2024. Two persons have been charged with his murder.

The investigation is now in its 11th day, with officers having been on the scene in Broad Avenue since Tuesday, February 10.

Specialist search teams have resumed work, and police are anticipated to remain for several weeks.

Six homes are currently within the massive police cordon.

Eight individuals have been charged in connection with the event.

Two individuals appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Monday (February 16) and were informed that they will face trial later this year for the murder of Mr Piatek.

The others charged in relation to Mr. Piatek’s case are:

  • Diar Muhammedy, 34, of Falmouth Road, Evington, Leicester, and Mabast Khalid, 21, of Manway Close, Birmingham, have been charged with assisting an offender.
    Dilan Rabati, 34, and Ahmed Nabla, 34, both of Broad Avenue, Leicester, have already pleaded not guilty to acquiring, using, or possessing illicit property, specifically Mr Piatek’s house on Broad Avenue, between June 2024 and February 2026.
    Dalya Rabati, 29, of Frazer Nash Close, Isleworth, London, pleaded not guilty to the same charge as well as fraud in January 2025, where she is accused of creating a bogus tenancy agreement for Mr Piatek’s home.
  • Nazem Kakamando, 50, of Gordon Road in Birmingham, denied acquiring, using, or possessing illicit property, which the magistrates’ court heard totalled more than £140,000 in cash, as well as fraud.
