Lewisham murder: Police close busy south London high street after man in his 20s killed.

Officers were called to an incident in Rushey Green, Catford, shortly after 3 a.m. on Wednesday. A murder inquiry is underway after a young man was stabbed to death in southeast London.

Metropolitan Police officers responded to allegations of a stabbing on Rushey Green in Catford just after 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The man, in his twenties, was treated by the London Ambulance Service for stab wounds. Scotland Yard stated, “The man was transported to hospital for further treatment, but regrettably died.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.” Lewisham Borough Commander Trevor Lawry expressed condolences to the young man’s family and friends for the awful loss of their loved one.

I understand that the community may be concerned following this tragedy; a professional homicide squad is currently investigating to put together what happened this morning.

If you have any information for the police, please come forward. “A crime scene will be in place for several hours as part of the investigation, and I thank local residents for their patience.” At this early point, no arrests have occurred.Formal identification and a special post-mortem will occur in due course.
