Sean Longstaff was the seventh summer addition Leeds made to their roster.
With the former Newcastle player, Daniel Farke has given his team the Premier League experience they needed.
In his 171 Premier League games, Longstaff has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for his boyhood club.
Now that Farke has players like Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu, and Ilia Gruev at his disposal, his midfield choices appear to be quite formidable.
Longstaff is predicted to be Leeds’ star.
After ultimately resolving a dispute with the Magpies regarding the possible amount, Leeds officially announced the signing of Longstaff on July 19.
In the end, the Peacocks reached an agreement on a £12 million contract, with the possibility of a further £3 million in add-ons provided specific conditions are fulfilled.
After the Geordie completed his transfer, legendary pundit Ian Darke thinks he will be a vital member of the Whites next season.
“He is a good solid signing, brings bags of Premier League experience, and the price is right at £12m,” he remarked in an exclusive interview with MOT Leeds News.
“After being in the chorus line at Newcastle, he takes center stage at Leeds because it is difficult for anyone to get past Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, and Joelinton.”
Leeds might bring in another former Newcastle player.
Leeds might recruit Callum Wilson on a free transfer to acquire another former Magpies star.
After five years on Tyneside, the 33-year-old left St. James’ Park at the end of the season, and he has been connected to the Elland Road squad.
Wilson would be a solid choice if he can demonstrate that he is past his injury problems. The LS11 team needs an upgrade up front because there are concerns about Championship top scorer Joel Piroe’s capacity to lead the line at the highest level.
After leaving his homegrown club, where he had been since he was nine years old, they could bring Longstaff back together with his old teammate, which would help him adjust in Yorkshire.
There is little doubt that Farke’s business is far from over and that they may sign a number of more contracts before the new season starts in order to help them stay afloat.
