The Blues defender described a “rollercoaster of emotions” that saw England go to their third consecutive major event final following another amazing comeback victory for the Lionesses.
Bronze had a key role in the team that advanced to the 2023 World Cup final, won the Women’s European Championship domestically in 2022, and is now in the final two at Euro 2025.
The 33-year-old has started all of England’s games in this year’s competition and has played 120 minutes in both last night’s 2-1 victory over Italy and back-to-back knockout matches against Sweden.
“To be honest, it hasn’t really sunk in for me,” Bronze grinned. It was an emotional rollercoaster as we tried to maintain our composure for the whole 120 minutes to prevent Italy from regaining the game.
“I think it will sink in that we’ve advanced to another final once I’m in the dressing room, when we’re back in Zurich on the bus.”

For the second consecutive game, Hannah Hampton had to make significant saves, including a vital double stop to preserve the Lionesses’ chances of qualifying for the Euros. When asked what the comeback demonstrated about this team’s character, Bronze was quick to highlight England’s advantages.
