Luton drug dealers supplying crack cocaine and heroin are put behind bars.
Four drug dealers involved in a network supplying crack cocaine and heroin have been imprisoned.
The Luton men were part of a county-wide drug gang that supplied the Welwyn Hatfield area.
Several members of the gang were apprehended during a 2022 sting operation that seized mobile phones, blades, class A drugs, and £7,700 in cash. Six have already been imprisoned in 2023, while four have been released on bail.
The four men appeared at St Albans Crown Court today (August 26) after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin) and were sentenced to:
Hamza Aftab, 25, of Fountains Road in Luton, was sentenced to seven years and seven months.
Adeeb Mohammed, 34, of St Winifred’s Avenue in Luton, was sentenced to five years and four months. Muhammed Tawhid, age 22, of Morgan Close, Luton was sentenced to two years and ten months.
Mohammed Sohail Khan, 22, of Hallwicks Road in Luton, was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for possession of criminal property in connection with £7700 in cash seized from his home. Detective Sergeant Chris Cowell of Hertfordshire Police’s County Lines Investigation Unit said:
“Aftab took control of the ‘Q’ line after other members of the gang were jailed, following an investigation by the County Lines Investigation Unit.
“We continued to monitor their activities and gather evidence to bring the remaining members to trial.
Aftab used a dedicated phone number to advertise and facilitate drug sales to Welwyn Hatfield customers.
He would take orders and then direct Tawhid or Khan to the waiting customers, who would exchange drugs for cash.
Mohammed stored drugs, money, and weapons on behalf of the group. “County-line drug gangs pose a significant threat to communities, particularly young people and the vulnerable.
