Luton plan changes for Coventry tie.
When Luton Town face Championship club Coventry City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, manager Matt Bloomfield intends to give some of his squad’s underutilised players a chance.
The Sky Blues were the team Luton defeated at Wembley in 2023 to gain promotion to the Premier League, and Bloomfield is now attempting to turn their fortunes around after back-to-back relegations.
Bloomfield spoke to BBC Three Counties Radio: “There will be changes because in pre-season we managed to get the majority of the group up to a good level of match sharpness and there are guys who have been harshly done by to not play more minutes in the first two league games.”
Mark McGuinness, Zach Nelson, and Lamine Fanne may start after coming on as substitutes against AFC Wimbledon and Peterborough United.
“They will be given an opportunity to stake their claim for a spot,” Bloomfield informed us. “We believe that is the best way to try to win the game.
We now have a busy few weeks ahead of us; if we win on Tuesday, that will be four Tuesdays in a row when we’re playing. If not, we’ve got three of the next four.
“We need a whole group that’s at it and contributing.”
