Man arrested after car enters River Soar with multiple people inside.

Road closures have been in place close to the scene

A man was apprehended when his automobile entered Leicester’s River Soar.

The incident is claimed to have occurred near Western Boulevard in Leicester, when a car entered the River Soar around 3.15 a.m. today (Friday, October 31).

The truck was reportedly carrying four individuals when it into the river. According to Leicestershire Police, when officers arrived at the scene, the occupants had left.

A spokeswoman stated that “no life-threatening or life-changing injuries” had been reported.

The investigation into how the car entered the River Soar is still ongoing, but police say an 18-year-old guy has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He is still in custody. Road closures lasted several hours while recovery attempts were underway.

Drivers were advised to avoid Coriander Road and Tarragon Road, both off Western Boulevard, until approximately 3.15pm on Friday afternoon.
