The incident occurred at Barrack Hall Park in Bexhill, East Sussex.

Police are seeking information following claims of a woman being raped in an East Sussex park. The incident occurred at Barrack Hall Park in Bexhill just after 5.30 p.m. on Monday, Sussex Police reported.

The victim, a woman in her twenties, is being supported by specially trained officers, according to the force. Sussex Police described the accused perpetrator as a white guy dressed in a short-sleeved top and trousers. He is not thought to be acquainted to the victim.

The force stated that officers are looking for anyone who was in or around Barrack Hall Park, or near the entrance, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Monday, August 18.

They are also urging anyone who may have taken video footage in the park around that time – whether on mobile phones, dashcams, or other devices – to come forward, as it could provide critical evidence. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage from the neighbourhood.

Detective Inspector James Meanwell stated, “We understand that this incident will cause significant concern in the local community.”

We want to inform locals that we are working relentlessly, with dedicated patrols in place to provide reassurance and visibility as we conduct an extensive investigation.”The victim in this investigation will continue to receive full support from professional officers.

“We are particularly appealing to anyone who may have been in Barrack Hall Park, or its vicinity, around the time of the offence to get in touch immediately.”

Reports can be filed online at Sussex Police’s website or by calling 101 and referencing Operation Calcot.
