Match Report: Charlton Athletic U21s 2, QPR Dev Squad 2.

On Friday afternoon, the QPR Development Squad and Charlton Athletic Under-21s played an entertaining 2-2 draw at Sparrows Lane.

Despite trailing early on, scores from Cian Dillon and Daniel Bennie ensured Rangers came home with a share of the points.

In a game featuring Kieran Morgan, Kealey Adamason, Tylon Smith, and Bennie, the Addicks got off to a solid start, with Rangers thanks to Joel Halliday for some strong saves in the first few minutes, stopping both Paris Lock and Emmanuel Sol-Loza.

The R’s first chance came in the 26th minute, when Kalen Brunson fed Morgan, who then found Isak Alemayehu. The latter’s attempt was easy for the home custodian.

Charlton eventually broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, thanks to a wonderful passing play that saw Reuben Reid go through and Kai Enslin score.

Rangers looked for a reaction, but it was the hosts who appeared more likely to increase their lead, with Reid once again threatening.

The Super Hoops opened the second half strong, with Dillon’s introduction obviously assisting.

Bennie would shortly get close. Rangers drew level in the 55th minute when Dillon latches onto a long through ball from Halliday and smashes home. One each.

The R’s seized the lead in the 67th minute when Bennie was fed by our trialist and fired inside the post. Rangers were unlucky not to expand their lead after some excellent work by Philip Sanyaolu, with the ball eventually falling to the problematic Dillon, who was denied again by the Charlton custodian.

However, Charlton levelled the score a few moments later, with Keenan Gough performing well before finding Henry Rylah, who converted from close range. Both teams would strive for a victory.

Bennie was unlucky not to score after a scramble in the hosts’ box, and Charlton threatened late on, but the game ended square in south London. QPR: Halliday, Adamson, Smith, Majesty, Alemayehu, Aoraha, Morgan, Brunson, Trialist, and Bennie.
