Middlesbrough is hard at work getting ready for the 2025–2026 Championship season.
After Michael Carrick departed, Rob Edwards took over as manager of the North East club, and their ultimate goal is to get promoted again the following season.
Boro has not yet completed any moves this summer since Josh Coburn, Anfernee Dijksteel, and George Gitau are departing the Riverside.
In addition, following loan stints, Ryan Giles, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Iling-Junior, and Ben Doak have all rejoined their parent clubs.
Liam Day, a Middlesbrough fan analyst for Football League World, has determined that one current Boro player might profit from a brief stint away from the team.
Micah Hamilton should go out on loan from Middlesbrough.
“Micah Hamilton is one of our players who needs to go out on loan,” Liam informed me. “He didn’t play last season while on loan.
It was always seen as a long-term endeavor, even though he arrived with a lot of hype. He was still inexperienced and didn’t seem to like playing. I think that was quite obvious.
He was loaned to Stockport County for the previous season. I’m not sure which team to move him to because he didn’t play at all; it might be a lower-tier League One squad.

For him, getting game time is currently the most crucial thing. He is in need of and longs for growth.
A handful of the team’s players are younger, but I think they—like Alex Gilbert—are getting close to the point where they have to either join the team permanently or force their way into the starting lineup.
However, Hamilton still has some time because he is only 21. Since this season seems to be a turning moment in his life, he is about to go. I don’t think he will get much game time with us, but I think he just needs to get out.
Another short-term change would be advantageous for Micah Hamilton.
After his impressive exploits at Manchester City, Hamilton made a big splash when he joined Boro last summer.
The 21-year-old showed off his exceptional talent by scoring for Pep Guardiola’s club in the Champions League.
He attempted to adapt to the physicality of the EFL and show his skills with both Middlesbrough and Stockport County last season, but he was unable to make an impression.
The winger’s future at the Riverside is not looking good because he just made five appearances for the Hatters.
These performances suggest that Edwards is unlikely to give Hamilton many minutes, suggesting that a loan agreement is the best option.
Boro’s ability would receive regular playing time with another short-term transfer to the third level, which is precisely what he needs at this point in his career.
Hamilton obviously has a lot of talent, but he might need a different environment to get used to the EFL at a lower level of competition.
