Midlothian crime: Primary pupils kept indoors after report of man with knife.
Pupils at a Midlothian elementary school were kept indoors during their morning break following a tip of a guy carrying a knife in the vicinity.
Following the incident, police urged King’s Park Primary School in Dalkeith not to let children out for playtime. Furthermore, the school notified parents and carers of the “ongoing police incident”.
However, the students were allowed to leave as usual when school ended at lunchtime on a Friday.
A Midlothian Council representative stated that parents and carers of King’s Park students were informed this morning regarding an ongoing police issue in the surrounding neighbourhood.
The spokesperson elaborated: “On Police Scotland advice, as a precautionary measure, pupils were kept indoors during the school break but were advised by police they were able to go home at lunchtime at the end of the school day as normal.” A Police Scotland spokesperson stated:
“Around 10.10 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, we received a report of a male in possession of a knife in the Eskbank Road area of Dalkeith.”
Officers are searching the area in effort to trace the man and are following a positive line of enquiry.”
