Millwall offer new contract to Mihailo Ivanovic’s team

Millwall offer new contract to Mihailo Ivanovic’s team.

Following Millwall’s 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic, Alex Neil announced that the club had offered Mihailo Ivanovic’s representation a new contract.

Ivanovic, 20, scored thirteen goals in his first season in English football after joining the club in August 2024, finishing as the Lions’ leading scorer.

The Serbian striker’s potential has piqued the curiosity of other clubs, with Millwall rejecting a proposal from Parma near the end of the summer transfer window.

Ivanovic has remained a first-team regular this season, starting the Lions’ opening five league games and assisting Luke Cundle’s winner against Sheffield United.

He started again today against the Addicks, up top partnering Josh Coburn, and Neil revealed after the game that the club had offered his team new contracts.

“There’s been a verbal offer made to Mihailo and his team,” Neil told me. “The only thing I can say about Mihailo is that he comes in and works every day, and he’s OK. So there is no problem with that.

“All of these contract agreements are often handled by others. I did not do them for the team. I’d like to make that obvious. I simply get out on the pitch with the players, organise them and attempt to win games. So that’s handled by someone else in another department.

“Mihailo is also not sitting at the table with their squad, counting beans and discussing how much money he wants. That is pure rubbish. There was an offer made. They can decide whether or not that is appropriate.

“What I will say is that when I came in last year, in the second half of the season, he was fantastic for us.

All young players may experience dips in performance where they may not produce to their full potential, but he will recover. He will be totally fine. When he gains confidence and scores some goals, we’ll see his best.
