A cafe inside a prominent Hartlepool store is set to close.
M&S Cafe, which is part of the M&S Foodhall in Anchor Retail Park, is closing after Marks and Spencer chose to repurpose the area to allow consumers to “shop a wider range of M&S food”.
There is no official date for the cafe’s closing, but the store management will keep consumers informed.
The Mail has learned that café employees will be taking on new responsibilities in the foodhall.
A representative for M&S stated: “We understand that many of our customers want to be able to purchase a greater choice of M&S Food. After analysing our Hartlepool shop, we are repurposing the café space to provide more products. We recognise that this may disappoint some customers, but our team will continue to work hard to serve them in-store.
The company announced in November of last year that it intends to open a new Hartlepool food shop.
