A 22-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murder after a man was shot and killed in Sheffield.

On Tuesday, just after 22:00 BST, emergency services were dispatched to Watery Street, near the junction of St Philip’s Road, in the city’s Upperthorpe neighbourhood. South Yorkshire Police reported that a 32-year-old male was transported to hospital and later died.

According to the police, the apprehended individual is in prison, and a modest scene remains in situ on Watery Street as investigations continue. The detective in charge, Ben Wood, stated:

“We understand that news of this murder investigation will have caused concern in the local community and there will be more officers in the area today and over the course of the week.”
