New £3.7 million Hartlepool drug and alcohol treatment centre set to aid people’s recovery opens.
The ribbon has been cut on a new £3.7 million substance recovery clinic in Hartlepool.
The new Start building on Whitby Street will give quality care to those dealing with drug or alcohol issues in the area. Dignitaries, personnel, partners, and guests all gathered to celebrate the official opening.
The centre, financed by Hartlepool Borough Council and created by Portakabin, is intended to provide a quiet, safe, and friendly environment for everyone who enters.
It is being lauded as a “significant step” in accelerating people’s rehabilitation journeys, and managers are confident it will result in better outcomes for clients.
Gary Allen, chair of the adult services and public health committee, stated, “By bringing a variety of specialist support under one roof, the centre will help people access the right care and give them the best chance of recovery.” “It’s not just about treatment, it’s about offering hope, stability and a pathway to a healthier future.”
The institution was built on the site of the former Whitby Street drug treatment centre, which had become unfit for function.
The new facility has 18 consultation and clinical rooms, a separate waiting area, several conference spaces, and modern office space.Last year, the Start service assisted more than 1,400 people.
According to Danielle Connolly, interim head of service at Start, clients might be of any age and come from any background.
She stated that the program is now dealing with an increase in the number of people suffering from alcohol and non-opiate disorders.
She commented on the newly constructed structure: “I’ve seen first-hand the difference compassionate, high quality support can make when it’s delivered in the right environment, and this building reflects that learning.”It’s intended to be a safe, friendly, and polite environment.
A place where people can take the sometimes difficult initial step towards transformation.
Sally Harris, clinical lead for Start partner Foundations, added, ‘This facility is the Hartlepool way of expressing ‘we care’ and that we can give professional therapy in a polished environment that is fit for purpose’.
Natalie Whitaker, a Start volunteer, cut the ribbon, calling it an honour and praising the service’s “incredible” work.
