New 3m cycleway to be constructed as part of major project in Coventry.

A new cycleway is under construction in Coventry’s Juniper Park. It is part of a significant development in Eastern Green.

According to Coventry City Council, the new development comprises new housing and employment units and is ‘progressing well.’ The construction of houses in Eastern Green is currently underway.

The project will include the construction of a 3m-wide cycleway and a 2m-wide pedestrian promenade. Councillor Patricia Hetherton stated that the current crossing on Woodridge Avenue will also be renovated.

Kerbing between Parkhill Drive and Woodridge Avenue is finished, and the final piece at the Eastern Green development site boundary has been paved. Trees will be unaffected.

Drainage improvements have also been finished. Cllr Hetherton stated that the Eastern Green site connects walkers, bicycles and public transit to adjacent communities while also ensuring that traffic enters and exits the site via the new A45 junction.

Project Manager Alice Bright stated, “We have a lot of stuff going on right now, including a new pedestrian and cycling path through Juniper Park, which will be a 3m cycle track and a 2m pedestrian lane.

It will significantly improve this area and make transit more accessible.Cllr Hetherton, Cabinet Member for City Services, added: “I am pleased to see work being done in Juniper Park to improve safe access for people to walk, wheel, and cycle.” It’s all about expanding travel options and contributing to the creation of a cleaner, greener city.
