The hotel, now named as ‘The Bay’, is said to have new owners. Brooks Architects Ltd’s plans for applicant P O’Leary, submitted last month to East Suffolk Council, are currently awaiting a decision.

The ideas include for converting the hotel’s first-floor public event areas, which include a bar and restaurant, into five self-catering studio suites.

The hotel now has 12 en-suite bedrooms on the upper two floors, with an additional 13 guestrooms planned for internal changes and refurbishment.

According to the paperwork: “The proposals represent a substantial financial investment that is focused on the enhancement, diversification and expansion of the hotel accommodation base.”

East Suffolk Council will likely make a decision in the coming weeks.
