New polling initiative aims to find More in Common between public and police in Bedfordshire.
A new polling effort being implemented across Bedfordshire aims to assess the public’s confidence and trust in the county’s police department.
Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner John Tizard has commissioned a research that will utilise county-wide polling and focus groups to gain public input on Bedfordshire Police.
The polls will be conducted by More in Common, a public opinion research business and member of the British Polling Council.
The findings will be compared to national benchmarks and will provide insight into the police’s local views.
The study’s goal is to gain a better understanding of how members of the public can feel safe and to identify areas for improvement in the police force.
Tizard, the Police and Crime Commissioner elected in May 2024, believes that effective policing requires public trust in the police department.
It is critical that we have accurate and informed data on the degree of confidence and trust in our police department.”
The More in Common poll will provide information on the public attitude to policing and why people have the views that they do.”
The poll is also intended to provide information on what the public expects from their police force.
“This is the first time we have undertaken such an exercise in Bedfordshire, and I am confident that this will enable both the police and me to shape better strategy and services.”
In the coming months, we will publish updates on the public polling initiative’s development.
