New restaurant approved in Rayners Lane with 11pm closing time

New restaurant approved in Rayners Lane with 11pm closing time.

A new restaurant is set to open on Rayners Lane after Harrow Council approved plans to convert a derelict shop into a food establishment.

The unit at 6 Village Way East, near the intersection with Rayners Lane, was originally a music store but has since been unoccupied.

The revised plans allow it to be converted into a restaurant, with a kitchen extract system installed at the rear and a temporary roof structure added to the back of the building.

Harrow Council has now approved the application. In its notice of decision, the council stated:

“Planning permission has been granted for the carrying out of the development referred to in Part I hereof and as described and shown on the plans and documents submitted with the application, subject to conditions and reasons listed below:”

The approval is subject to rigorous requirements, particularly those relating to noise and odours. The eatery will be allowed to open only between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Before it opens, the owner must file an Odour Impact Assessment.

The council requires that the extraction system be installed in such a way that “noise, vibration, and odour/fume” do not influence surrounding homes.

A noise assessment has already been submitted and must be followed, as well as an approved Fire Safety Statement, before the restaurant can open.

According to the planning records, the unit is little under 85 square metres. The application also states that the company might create five full-time and two part-time positions.

Council officers stated that the change of use is suitable inside the Rayners Lane town centre and will not result in an overabundance of non-retail units along that stretch. Work is planned to begin late this year.
