According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Jacob Ramsey, a midfielder for Aston Villa, has finalized his £40 million transfer to Newcastle United. Before leaving Aston Villa, the former England Under-21 player traveled to Tyneside last night for a medical examination.
The agreement ends the Magpies’ pursuit of the 24-year-old, who Villa permitted to depart due to persistent concerns about sustainability and profit. As Unai Emery’s team toiled on three fronts last season, Ramsey occasionally seemed disgruntled as he fought for playing time.
The manager of Villa had brought in Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, both of whom were favored over the local players. Villa has previously received consequences from Uefa for breaking their rules: a £5 million fine with a £15 million suspension. However, the club had no issues with the Premier League after selling their women’s squad to a related business.
Additionally, Ramsey’s sale will aid in future calculations. He graduated from the club’s academy, and the full amount of the charge will be applied to any losses incurred by their finances.
It was believed that Emery was in a situation where he needed to sell before he could purchase, and it is still unknown if he will enter the market. Last week, Villa announced the £30 million signing of Evann Guessand, who may be seen as Ramsey’s straight replacement.
