Newcastle United in talks over agreement with Alexander Isak’s ‘best friend’ after Liverpool interest

After Alexander Isak’s forced summer transfer to Liverpool, Newcastle United doesn’t want to lose any of their best players.

Sven Botman’s new contract is allegedly the subject of early talks with Newcastle United.

In order to sign the Dutchman from Lille for £35 million in the summer of 2022, the Magpies overcame competition from Italian powerhouse AC Milan.

United qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years and advanced to their first cup final since 1999 during Botman’s first season. In doing the latter, Botman was a member of England’s joint-best defense, giving up just 33 goals in 38 games.

The 25-year-old was considered as one of the top left-sided defenders in the Premier League right away, but his development has been severely hampered by a number of knee problems over the past two seasons, including an ACL injury.

But after starting ten of the Magpies’ previous eleven games, it appears that Botman is over those issues. As a result, he and Malick Thiaw, a £35 million summer acquisition, have developed a solid center-back partnership.

Sven Botman and Newcastle United begin early contract negotiations.

His contract, which currently expires in just over 18 months, has come under increased scrutiny as a result. According to Mail Sport, Newcastle has begun preliminary negotiations with Botman’s team, although a definitive deal may not be reached for some time.

Ross Wilson, the sporting director who recently joined the team from Nottingham Forest, will be in charge of player contracts. According to the article, Wilson and Botman’s agents get along well and are both at ease with the circumstances.

Chelsea and Liverpool have reportedly expressed interest in Botman, according to recent rumors. The Magpies have made it clear time and time again that they do not want to lose players, with Alexander Isak being the model that everyone wants to follow.

Isak’s contract extension with Newcastle was briefly discussed last year, but when it didn’t work out, the Swede used it as leverage to go on strike and effectively force his £130 million British record transfer to Liverpool.

One of the few Newcastle players to publicly address Isak upon the announcement of the transfer was Botman. “What began as teammates grew into one of my rare best friendships,” he added. I don’t need to say anything more, brother. Best of luck on your next chapter.

Regarding contracts with Newcastle United, Ross Wilson is “taking the lead.”

Wilson is dealing with a number of contract difficulties, including Botman. While marginally longer-term players like Tino Livramento and Sandro Tonali have arguably worked their way to better agreements, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar both have contracts that expire this summer.

“That one is awaiting Ross (Wilson).” He will lead these discussions,” Newcastle manager Eddie Howe recently stated.

Naturally, I’m sure he’s investigating the duration of each player’s contract and initiating discussions appropriately. We will have time for all of the important meetings and decisions we must make, as well as future strategic planning.

Right now, I believe it’s critical that he simply gets to know the players, the staff, and how things operate. Naturally, he can then make adjustments as he sees fit to advance and improve things.
