Isaac Moran has officially joined Newcastle United from Liverpool.
The 16-year-old declined a scholarship offer to stay at Liverpool and will instead join Newcastle’s academy.
Although they are not allowed to sign professional contracts, athletes under the age of 17 may accept scholarships that lead to professional deals.
Moran will play for Newcastle’s Under-18 team in 2025–2026 after joining the team on a scholarship.
An official statement from Newcastle United confirms the academy’s entrance.
“Newcastle United can announce that Isaac Moran has joined the club’s Academy from Liverpool,” stated an official statement released by the city.
As a first-year scholar, Moran, a 16-year-old England youth international, will join Chris Moore’s under-18 team.
“Moran has advanced through Liverpool’s youth system; in March 2024, at the age of 15, he made his Reds under-18 squad debut.
“The defender has received six under-15 caps while playing for England at the youth level.”
Steve Harper, the head of Newcastle’s academy, stated after Moran’s arrival: “Isaac joins us with a strong pedigree and a maturity beyond his years.”
“We’re thrilled to support him as he continues to grow as a player and a person, and the leadership traits he has shown thus far speak volumes about his character.
“He is a motivated person who embodies our Academy’s ideals flawlessly.”
“Isaac’s admission to the Academy is a testament to the ongoing success of our hiring team, whose work is still essential to our long-term plan.”
Although senior-level transfers at Newcastle have been delayed this summer, Moran is the most recent of several youthful, promising arrivals. This summer, the Magpies have also signed contracts with Seung-Soo Park and Antonio Cordero, two highly regarded young players. Later this month, Dinamo Tbilisi’s teenage forward Vhaktang Salia will also join the team.

Isaac Moran makes a final remark for Liverpool.
Moran confirmed his resignation from Liverpool by sharing a number of pictures from his time there on Instagram with the message, “I have made the tough decision to leave Liverpool Football Club.” Although I feel it is best for my career and future prospects to go elsewhere, I want it to be known that this choice was not made lightly and that I have been honored to represent the club.
“I want to express my gratitude to all of my teammates, coaches, and staff for their tireless efforts over the past ten years, which have not only helped me become the football player I am today, but also, and perhaps most importantly, the person I am today. From my very own heart. Thank you. YNWA.
