A winger for Oldham Athletic may have suffered a fracture during the Tranmere victory.
Stevens just got back from a protracted ankle injury that needed surgery earlier in the season. However, if his most recent setback is as severe as anticipated, he might be sidelined once more. After being forced off in the first half, the 25-year-old left Boundary Park and headed straight to the hospital.
After receiving treatment, Stevens attempted to continue playing, but Tranmere defender Nathan Smith purposefully pulled his arm, preventing him from doing so. “I believe Stevens has a fractured collar bone. Manager Micky Mellon stated, “He’s gone up for a scan now, but it doesn’t look good.”
“We also lost Tom Conlon, a key figure in our organisation, so it’s a devastating blow. It’s a huge blow to him first and foremost because he’s such an exciting talent, and to us because we’re going to lose that talent just when we thought he was starting to look like the reason we brought him to the football club. We can only hope that something goes our way after he returns and looks so good.
Mellon said, “We’ve got a few more injuries with boys that had to come off,” following a physical altercation with Tranmere. “You want to try to avoid getting hurt before that (festive) period. Next week, I’m hoping to get a few back. But instead of whining and complaining, we’ll just move forward.”
