Owner Stefan Rupp watched Bradford City friendly in Austria.
STEFAN Rupp kept a low profile during City’s friendly in Austria, content to watch from a bank behind the dugout.
However, he has been more open about his desire for their return to League One. The owner is expected to attend Valley Parade’s season-opener against Wycombe a week from Saturday.
After increasing Graham Alexander’s budget, Rupp is confident that a first promotion in his nine-year tenure will serve as a springboard for another strong campaign at the next level.
“We can’t exclude the owner, especially if he’s excited. I know I am, as do my players and staff, and I’m sure the fans are, based on what happened the other night. “Professional football is a tough and challenging sport. It does not always work out in your favour.
“It’s about resilience, and when you have moments of success like we did last year, it keeps you going for years. You’re looking for the next high, as I’m sure Stefan and everyone else at Bradford City are.
“It’s still a really tough challenge in front of us but I believe we’ll be ready for it.”Rupp travelled from Munich on Friday to watch City defeat Austrian fourth-division side SK Vorwärts Steyr 7-1 at the conclusion of their Obertraun training camp. Alexander added, “I had a nice conversation with Stefan and his family afterwards.
He came last year as well and said he would come again. “It was great to see him because it was his first time seeing the new players and seeing how the team was coming together.
It’s not just about the newcomers, but also about the players who were with us last season, as well as the chemistry and relationships that developed. “I think he will be over for the first game of the season as well, so that will be good.”
