Peabodys Coffee in Worthing Hospital’s food hygiene rating.
A hospital coffee shop has received a one-star food hygiene rating.
The meals Standards Agency inspected Peabodys Coffee, which sells hot and cold meals and drinks at Worthing Hospital, on October 14, 2025.
The shop has the second lowest rating, making it one of only ten businesses in the Worthing area with “major improvement necessary” at the time of writing.
Worthing has 932 food outlets, with Peabodys Coffee in the bottom 1.2 percent.
Inspectors discovered that hygiene standards for food handling, preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage might be improved.
Food safety management requires significant improvement, including proof of mechanisms to assure food safety and enough knowledge of food safety among staff.
The cleanliness and sanitation of the institution were considered generally satisfactory. Establishments are rated on a scale of 5 (extremely good) to 0 (urgent improvement required).
Inspectors have a variety of enforcement tools available to them, ranging from providing advise to closing a business if sanitary standards represent a significant risk to public health.
Peabodys Coffee was created in 1997 to offer coffee and meals in London hospitals, but it has now grown beyond the capital.
It says it collaborates with NHS Trusts to coordinate goals, such as sugar reduction in soft drinks, healthy food options, and packaging sustainability.
The coffee business also claims to be familiar with meeting directions to promote the health and well-being of patients at UK hospitals.
